I am guessing that the reason one should remove Office from the old computer is that, when entering the product key in the new hard drive (or computer), it updates the Microsoft database with the drive's serial number. The person told me to remove Office from the old computer and install it on the new one. I accidentally verified this because I already had 3 installations on my 3-pack product and the new installation worked perfectly. When entering the license key, it will not remove any of your available installations. Office 2011 does not have a procedure for transferring the license. Someone answered in just a couple of minutes. (How? I dialed the number on the registration screen and didn't say anything or push any buttons. So, I called Microsoft and got to talk to an actual person. After one re-start, Office would once again ask for a key. (Licensing helpers & stuff) None of those methods worked for more than one re-start of the computer. I tried moving the appropriate files as shown in some search results.

Just yesterday I had this question and got many search engine results (and some goofy ones.) If i type the product key,ĭoes it mean that I used all my installation of the family pack? I found one, but they want me to type in the product key. It's not like I have to use up my last installation on the family pack?Īlso, where can i download the same version on the Internet? Since my new macbook doesn't have the cd-rom to install, I should download the same version from the Internet. I also read that I can just drag some microsoft office related files from my old mac to an external hard disk or USB, and easily drag them back to the new microsoft office 2011 files on new macbook. I read that I have to delete office in my old mac completely in order to reinstall it in new mac.

I did some googling on how to transfer office to new mac, and I wasn't so sure if the solutions on the Internet are suitable for my situation.Ĭan I transfer the office that I'm using on my old mac to my new mac? Or do i have to use up my last installation on the family pack? I want to save it for my brother who are thinking about buying himself a mac. I do not want to use up my last copy of Office. However, I recently switched to macbook air 2015, and am thinking about selling my old macbook pro. So my sister and I installed the office on our macbook pros, and I still got one left.

I bought my macbook pro in 2012 and Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 Family Pack which allowed me to install on three different computers with three different users. I'm trying to migrate/transfer office from my old macbook pro to new macbook air.
